Chris Craft Commander with a blown engine

I found a 1970s Chris Craft Commander with the Ford 427 V8 that the current owner say's it's blown. Even though I'm getting some shady vibe about this, it wouldn't be my first time doing something stupid, so why not, right? Well the thing that's a dilemma for me is if it's worth rebuilding the engine or swap it, maybe for something newer and better. What do you think?
