There's this Vortec 5.7 that my friend left lying around the garage for about a week now and well.. bad for him he knows I'm a sucker for curiosity especially with things like this, anyway, I toyed around with for 2 days until I started to dig deeper and deeper and literally I mean and now I've dismantled a few things that I cant seem to put back. I'm no stranger to engine work, but marine setups have their own quirks, and this Vortec's layout is fighting me every step of the way. Got the heads off, timing cover pulled, everything laid out nice… and now I'm second guessing half of it trying to get it all back together right.

Well... I told my friend anyway, thankfully I'm still alive to be typing this post lol and he agreed we'd look at it together but who knows where I can find any manuals or something that'd help us navigate or if someone here could also try helping us out

@Walter.chris
haha, you went on a classic garage adventure! Marine Vortec engines definitely have their own quirks
For manuals, grab a Seloc or Clymer marine repair manual for that 5.7L Vortec (check Amazon, eBay, or marine stores) YouTube is also your friend; search for 'Vortec 5.7 marine engine assembly' I'm sure it'll work

What a thrill!! Marine engines can definitely be tricky with their unique setups. And yeh i agree with tailwaggerz above, your best bet is to grab a factory service manual, these usually have detailed diagrams and step-by-step instructions. Check online sites like MarineEngine.com too or the manufacturer's site..
