Where’s the sender hiding on a 2007 Corsair 25?

I just finished rewiring half of my 2007 Corsair 25 and the fuel sender is the last mystery. The gauge flickers sometimes, then nothing. Has anyone upgraded theirs or found an updated location for the unit?
 
Hey, great job tackling that rewiring! I've definitely run into similar issues on older boats myself. That flickering could be a sign of a few things, maybe a bad ground, a failing sender, or just a loose connector. I'd recommend checking the sender's resistance,it should be about 240 ohms when the tank is empty and around 33 ohms when it's full. And give those wires a wiggle while you're at it, you might catch some jumps that'll give you a clue

Oh, and quick question, is your sender mounted on the top or the side of the tank? Knowing that could really help us figure out some upgrade options

Thanks for the helpful ohm values! After spending the last week going over the boat, I've confirmed there is no access plate anywhere above the tank. This makes me think cutting the deck is the only option, is that the standard procedure for sender replacement on these Corsairs?
 
Hey, thought I'd chime in. Flickering usually points to a bad sender or a loose connection at the sender itself. I know a couple of people who upgraded to a WEMA or similar capacitive sender for more reliable readings. I was going to suggest to check your tank for a 5-bolt SAE standard pattern if you go that route.

Cutting the deck isn't ideal, but I guess it's sometimes the only way on older boats where maintenance access wasn't prioritized. But before you resort to that, carefully check for any large, removable deck panels secured by screws directly over the tank area. Some Corsairs have these instead of small inspection ports. If no such panel exists, then cutting an access hole and installing a marine access plate afterwards might be your best option for you, also for future access. Make sure to measure carefully!
 
I performed one last thorough search for any large removable deck panels and confirmed none exist. Cutting the deck is the necessary next step.

The project for this weekend is to measure carefully and create the opening. I'll install a proper marine access plate as suggested to make any future work on the sender much simpler. The WEMA sender reco is logical, so I will order 1 for the replacement.

Will document the job and provide an update for everyone once the work is complete.
 
Hey! @sheeeeeldonK I think check near the top of the tank first, that's usually where Corsair mounted them. Make sure all connections are clean and tight, sometimes it's just a funky ground causing the flicker.
